OUR WORK

The Australian Civil Society Coalition on Women, Peace and Security (‘the Coalition’) is a non-partisan and independent coalition of civil society organisations, networks and individuals working to advance the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) Agenda in Australia, Asia and the Pacific region and globally.

The Australian Civil Society Coalition on Women Peace and Security brings together activists, feminists, practitioners, humanitarian actors and those with first-hand experience working in the frontline on issues relating to women, peace and security. Coalition members have wide ranging expertise in gender and peace.

EDUCATION & PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT

The WPS Coalition aims to increase public understanding of the Women, Peace and Security Agenda and it’s relevance to the work and lives of diverse stakeholders, including the women and girls who are affected by decisions made about the Agenda and its implementation. The Coalition also believes in the importance of collective action and providing opportunities for our members, supporters and the public to get involved in our work. This page includes blog articles from the Coalition and our members, links to resources and opportunities to engage with the Coalition, either through formally joining the Coalition as member, supporting our future campaigns or joining online consultations to provide feedback on our work.

POLICY & ADVOCACY

The Australian WPS Coalition seeks to influence Australian Government policies on peace and security to adopt a transformative women, peace and security agenda that shifts away from militarised and securitised approaches to a people-centered human security approach to sustainable peace and development.

Our policy and advocacy work involves advising National Action Plan implementing agencies through our participation in governance mechanisms, working with other women peace and security networks and coalitions, policy submissions and engaging with our members through the annual civil society dialogue.

MONITORING & ANALYSIS

Monitor the implementation of the Australian National Action plan on UNSCR 1325 and other international commitments made by the Australian government on issues related to women, peace and security.
