Global Study on Women, Peace and Security

May 20, 2015Policy and Advocacy articles

The Security Council recently invited the Secretary General to commission the Global Study on Women, Peace and Security, designed to inform a High Level Review of Women, Peace and Security. There are however, three major reviews being undertaken at the United Nations this year that are relevant to UNSCR 1325. They are:

  • Secretary General’s Review of Peace Operations
  • Ten year review of United Nations Peacebuilding Architecture
  • High Level Review of Women, Peace and Security

Civil society organisations were invited to make submissions to the Global Study via the Peace Women website. They were also provided the opportunity to complete a comprehensive survey of their engagement with Women, Peace and Security including relevant program delivery. The survey was organised by the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders. The Global Study is due to be finished by June 2015.

The Australian Government made a whole-of-government submission to the Global Study and several members of the Coalition made submissions from their own organisations. All submissions will be made publicly available, but you can see the submissions by members of the Coalition below.
